- “Dark Dark Land” investigates the horrifying murder of a family in the small town of Carolina, South Africa and shows the people of Carolina closing ranks, leaving only the local police chief to talk. The cloud of Calvinist repression and denial takes the filmmaker into his own background in a small Calvinist community, his work as a domineer (minister in the Church), and finally his rejection of the society which molded him.
