Contents/Summary

Summary
In 1897 the polar explorer Robert Peary invited six Greenlanders, including Minik, a six year old boy, and his father, to the Museum of Natural History in New York. As strange research objects, Inuits were an attractive exhibition at a the museum, but Minik was the only one of the six to survive the American climate, and his father's body was preserved in the name of science. One hundred years later Peary's great grandchild attempts to rediscover the connections between himself, his great grandfather and Minik. Staffan Julén's fascinating film, 'The Prize of the Pole', tells the stories of both men: Peary's double life with families in both Greenland and America and Minik's unsuccessful return to the life of a hunter in Greenland.
