Contents/Summary

Summary
In the 1940s, a young gymnast was preparing to join the Hungarian Olympic Team, but was refused because she was Jewish. She was later deported, along with her parents and sister, to Auschwitz where the Nazi doctor, Josef Mengele, tore her out of the line for the gas chambers. Mengele promised her she would meet her mother who was “just going to have a shower” soon. That day, while her parents were being killed, she was forced to dance to “The Blue Danube Waltz” in front of Mengele. She closed her eyes and imagined being on stage at the Budapest Opera.
