Contents/Summary

Summary
Changes in labor relations in Eastern Europe arising from recent political events can only be understood against the backdrop of the existing structures and mechanisms of labor relations. This full-length collaborative study--the first in its field--analyzes these structures and mechanisms by focusing on the radical reforms undertaken in Bulgaria over the last decade. Using a wealth of case studies, the authors examine the action processes within enterprises and the processes of strategy formulation on a national level in Bulgaria, and compare them with those processes in other Eastern European countries such as Yugoslavia, Hungary, Poland, and Czechoslovakia, as well as in the Soviet Union. The radical nature of the reforms in Bulgaria are of particular interest due to recent events. In its comparative and historical analysis, Labour Relations in Eastern Europe places impending changes into a broader context.
