- Using archival footage, “Balaton Retro” presents Hungary’s main tourist destination as it was in the socialist era - the Balaton lake in the 60s and the 70s. The film tells the story of the Balaton resorts, camps, sport centers and events and in so doing, it shows a lesser known face of Hungary in the Kádár era. The film examines the meaning of the lake for the majority of Hungarians as well as its importance within the socialist context.
