- Notes
- These letters appear to be written by Isidor Botstiber, an uncle of Gertrud Bortstieber living in Vienna during the 1930s. Some of the letters are signed Isidor, others are signed Iserlohn. Iserlohn is a town near Dortmund, Germany, and in this context this appears to be a simple wordplay. See also notes written by Isidor Botstiber on letters exchanged between Gertrud Bortstieber and Lajos Jánossy in the 2020 accruals (series HU OSA 439-2-1) to this fonds. During the 1930s, Gertrud Bortstieber (then in Moscow) and her son Lajos Jánossy (then in Berlin) exchanged letters via Isidor Botstiber (in Vienna).
