a| Life in the small settlement of Niaqornat, Greenland, with a population of fewer than 60, moves at its own pace. Located by an isolated bay, the village consists of a handful of colorful houses owned by Inuit, a school, a graveyard and a small fish processing factory. However, when the latter is closed down, the locals in this tough polar environment lose their livelihoods. Talks on turning the company into a co-op get under way but some – particularly the young – are forced to leave and look for jobs in the city.. The film follows several idiosyncratic villagers, often linked by close family ties, during efforts to get the factory started up once again. It offers hope that even tiny isolated communities can survive and preserve their traditional values in a fast-moving modern world.
