a| Sixty hears after his death, the myth of Joseph Stalin, one of the cruelest dictators in History is being revived by the Russians who suffered so much from him. The film director seeks to understand the mystery of this ambivalence. Through the work accomplished over the past twenty five years by the historians and volunteers of the human-rights organization Memorial, he shows how Stalin's ghosts are still haunting the Russian society, its people and institutions, blocking the path to democracy. By gathering testimonies from the last survivors of the Gulag and using an abundant footage material, the purpose of the film is to contribute to the ongoing and necessary deconstruction process of the totalitarian systems that prevailed in the 20th century.
