- Summary
- Women, confined in a place far away from their home, sitting in front of sewing machines day and night. They are released to go home every month or every two months, during which time they try to make up for everything that they were deprived of: family life, the warmth of their homes. This is the fate of guest workers. Through the lives of five Hungarian women living in Sub-Carpathia the film shows what destinies and conflicts arise when people are forced to be away from their homes. However, for people living a wretched life in Sub-Carpathia because they cannot otherwise find work, employment in Hungary is the only chance to escape. All this takes place in a year when the referendum in Hungary about dual citizenship for Hungarians living beyond the borders and the Orange Revolution in the Ukraine dealt a blow to these people.
