- Alan Llewellyn Hicks was a T&G shop steward for 20 years, and earlier spent 7 years in his local Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Regiment. Following capture at Anzio, he spent 18 months as a slave laborer, building - and sabotaging - a V2 Rocket factory for Bayer née I. G. Farben in Germany.
