Contents/Summary
- Summary
- The uncompleted Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) Railroad in Siberia is a powerful symbol of the stagnation of the Brezhnev years. Behind the marches and songs praising the project, equipment was breaking down, lives were broken, and souls became calloused. The track was built at great social and economic cost, yet it lies there and is of no use.
