Many of these children come from the townships that still bear the scars of apartheid's policies. Unlike their parents, these children are not prepared to be part of the meek majority of have-nots. Poverty, alcoholism, broken families and brutality drive them to the streets of cities like Johannesburg to try and improve their lot. And, indeed, sometimes they are lucky. Then they feel strong, courageous and independent - after a strong dose of glue-sniffing - whilst they stare with longing at the wealth parading past them on the pavements of Johannesburg. Vusi, Shadrack, Bheki, Silas, Jane, the protagonists of this film, are children such as these who roam the streets, hoping and waiting for the lucky break. Alone, totally dependent on their own resources, they and many others like them fight against all odds for the fulfillment of their modest little dreams. But in their search for a happier life, they are in the process of losing what is left of their future. 580 Soros Documentary Fund 655 4 Documentary films 260 Germany, |c1999. 041 afr |jeng 952 |00 |10 |40 |50 |70 |8FL |992573FL |bFL |d2016-11-25 |l0 |r2016-11-25 |w2016-11-25 |yDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_2552_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9148899FL |bFL |d2019-04-29 |l0 |oFL Record 2552 |pHU_OSA_00004168.mp4 |r2021-11-04 |w2019-04-29 |yDIGIFILM |zAccess Copy, MP4 format |cAudio Visual 920 01 7XLNQkeL 966 True |bHU_OSA_00004168 |cDigitally Anywhere / With Registration
