Viktor Valerevich Mumikhotkak also known as 'Mukha' was from the Yupik, a group of indigenous peoples from Alaska and the Russian Far East. He was from the hamlet New Chaplino in Chukotka, eastern Russia, and died tragically in 2012; he was found having been stabbed in the abdomen with his fingers removed. In 2014, a young woman Alla Ukuma gave birth to her first child, when her son was born her mother told her 'Last night I saw Mukha in my dream. He had come back in your boy. Let us name your baby Viktor.' This documentary is on one hand an exploration of the local peoples belief in reincarnation, and on the other hand a film essay about life, death and the universal question, how does one confront their own end?
