a| In the United States a law was passed that led to the forced sterilization of 400.000 people. With World War II, eugenics in Germany became more radical : people who were considered unfit to reproduce were now judged unfit to live. The program T4 - using gas chambers - and other actions led to the death of 200.000 people in Germany. But eugenics continued on after 1945 : in Sweden, where sterilization laws appeared in 1935 and were applied until 1976 and in America, where States like Virginia or North Carolina increased their number of sterilizations after 1945. Even in the 1970's, people who were considered as 'unfit' or 'feeble-minded', could still be sterilized against their will. The documentary tells the story of eugenics from an international perspective.
