Notes
The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

Contents Summary
A woman is pushing a button to slide the shelves so that she can have access to the stacks. She is prettily dressed in a white blouse and dark skirt. Besides the sliding shelves there are other shelves and stacks full of volumes. Cf. HU OSA 300-1-8:1/93, HU OSA 300-1-8:1/102.

ORIGINAL CAPTION:
Munich - The consolidated RFE/RL Library at the Radio's headquarters in Munich is unique and attracts scholars, Eastern authorities and researchers from many different countries to consult the almost 100,000 volumes in 30 some languages covering Soviet and East European affairs ranging from Abkhazian cultural history to legal rulings in Zagreb. The collections are grouped by language areas, i. e. the Hungarian collection, the Uzbek collection. A major problem is space. The partial solution: use of an entire wall area through modern push-button, sliding shelves that open just wide enough to permit librarians and others to enter the stacks. Here a librarian is moving the shelves to enter the Hungarian collection.
