- Summary
- A musical about Chirita, a noble woman who returns from Paris to the Moldavian Principality and has problems readjusting to "backward" Moldova. Chirita has a daughter who falls in love with an engineer whom Chirita initially rejects as he has no fortune or social status. Yet she gradually tones down her opposition. The characters mix Romanian with French expressions and phrases, thus creating hilarious situations. Coana Chirita is a classical 'demi-monde' character in Romanian literature.
