Enrolled at a prestigious ballet school in Russia, Oxanna (16) wants to become a prima ballerina which requires her to sacrifice a normal youth experience. She goes through hope, loneliness and despair while she struggles with anorexia. She wants to give up but she feels obliged to pull herself together every morning after nights of crying because she must fulfil her mother's dream. This film reveals the brutality and the demand for subordination in the classical ballet training, an integral part of Russian culture.
