Contents/Summary
- Summary
- In The Prospect Before Us, John Dos Passos carries on a grassroots examination of post-war life in the western world. Using a series of homely "lectures," with overtones of satiric humor, the author points out that though there is much talk of systems of society, there is very little direct observation of life under such systems. Seeking for the integrity and freedom of individuals, Dos Passos finds that whatever the political structure under which he lives, man is today faced by a common problem. How can he adjust society to the massive corporation-industrial or governmental - so that the liberties and dignities of a simpler society can be preserved? -- Dust jacket
