Summary
Life in this Russian village revolves around the grocery store. People usually come in to Tatyana’s store to buy chicken, vodka and medicine. At the same time they want to hear the local news, get warm, borrow money, complain and celebrate. Tatyana scolds the drunkards, gives out goods to those who are in dire situations and recommends Champagne instead of vodka. She sells cakes by the piece to those who can’t afford more, cheers' with the customers on national holidays and shares her deepest loss' with the director.
