Jose P. Ramirez is a charismatic young Mexican school teacher. He has devoted the past twenty years to the Chatinos communities of the Sierra Madre, where the Indians had previously been abandoned to illiteracy. The teacher radically transforms Chatinos lives when he starts running the first distance secondary school program in the region via satellite. Many of his students are admitted to the best universities in Mexico and after finishing their studies, they want to return with a message of modernity and hope and take up the leadership of their community.
