Searching for a better life, Farrukh leaves his wife and child behind in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and joins his father, mother, and two younger brothers in the outskirts of Moscow. To bring home a few rubles, the young Tajik illegal immigrant works odd jobs but dreams of becoming a famous actor. He is invited by a film crew to play an immigrant falsely accused of a man’s murder, but reality proves stranger than fiction when he causes another man’s death in a road accident and lands in prison. The camera closely follows this tragic character as he is trying to find the midway between respect for his traditionalist parents and the will to integrate into a universe where no one welcomes him. An empathetic study of the loss of roots and the hardship of a Tajik minority trying to build their lives in modern Russia.
