Contents/Summary
- Summary
- The film features a love story across the high walls of a children’s prison in Russia. Vadim was convicted of murder and sentenced to prison for four years. His girlfriend Ira kept regular correspondence with him, worrying about negative peer influence in the prison and hoping to prepare him for life outside. Despite the strong romantic bond, the couple had to face the harsh reality of verbal and physical abuse, the lack of resources and the depressing air of self-hatred in the prison. Vadim was released one year early, but the transition was by no means easy even with Ira by his side. Vadim’s story is just one out of many in Russia, where juvenile delinquency is prevalent among teenagers living on the society's margin while the state rehabilitation system is in need of reform.
