1. Third anniversary of the strike in Gdansk (Poland). The signing of an agreement in which the government recognized almost all the demands of the strikers. Based on these documents, the independent trade union association “Solidarity” arose.
The period of dawn of the formation and suppression of the democratization process in Poland was observed by the Warsaw correspondent of the American newspaper The New York Times, John Dornton.

2. 15th anniversary of the suppression of the Prague Spring by Warsaw Pact troops.
During the Prague Spring, one of the members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was Zdenek Mlynar, who abandoned his posts after the invasion of troops and was forced to emigrate to the West, the author of a number of books about that period. Larisa Silnitskaya spoke with him in New York.
