a| Mihály Balog, a gypsy man from Szabolcs, works in Budapest. He gets the news here: his young wife is dead. Mihály still behaves differently than the Gypsy settlements in Koportos: he wants a beautiful, rich funeral for the woman. His three-day bitter struggle is not crowned with success: the funeral is poor, both the gypsies and the Hungarians stay away, only his wife's lovers watch the farewell from afar.
