a| Central Plains, the ancient Zhongzhou which refers to current Henan province, is currently China's most populous province with 100 million residents, of which 72% live in poverty in rural areas. Poverty led many people to sell blood. During the blood transfusion, many innocent people were infected with HIV. The film documents the stories of rural people and other marginalized groups living with HIV/AIDS caused by critical poverty and the loss of control of blood safety. It also contrasts the situation between the corrupted officials and the courageous villagers. A case in point is Li Xige, who together with her daughter and six other women infected through blood transfusion in Ningling appealed to the Ministry of Health in Beijing for lack of case filing and compensation for their infections for the fifth time. A day later, the police from Ningling intercepted them and took the infected women back where Li Xige and two other women were detained.
