a| This marvelous horror parody is set in Belgrade, a typical modern metropolis, except that it lacks its own serial killers. That gap is soon filled when a series of women are strangled. The culprit is Perica, an overly sensitive street vendor who sells red carnations and is generally quite timid and friendly - unless someone ridicules his flowers. He is also a regular at the pastry shop and has a “mummy” who has left him the “business” and no longer leaves home. She is not the gentlest of mothers, but Perica cannot defy her. Still, Perica’s crimes go undetected for some time because the vigorous but old-fashioned police inspector Ognjen Strahinjić is utterly incompetent and, driven by his own failures, goes completely insane. In the meantime, a popular, but disturbed young rock star Spiridon Kopicl becomes telepathically connected with the strangler, and writes a song about the killings. In the final outcome, Perica and Kopicl clash over the neck of the same innocent girl, but only one of them emerges from the fight as a winner.
