- The Antall government announced an 85 percent increase in gasoline prices on Thursday night, October 25, 1990. In response, thousands of taxi drivers and hauliers paralyzed Budapest and several cities in the country for three days. During the blockade, only firefighters, ambulances and Russian troops leaving the country were allowed to travel unhindered.
