Contents/Summary

Summary
The Emmy-winning documentary gives an insight into a magical but unfortunately already vanished world. Based on previously unseen archival recordings, old photographs and authentic music, we can learn about the specific life, culture, traditions of Eastern European Jewry and the changes that influenced the twentieth century for groups living in previously closed communities. Experts explain the deep faith in the Jewish communities, their particular style of dress, their methods of upbringing, and the optimism that helped them survive the pogroms and the horrors of the Holocaust. We can also learn about the roots of Jewish movements, Hedidism and Zionism.
