- Summary
- The film is a story of parallel biographies. In 1944, three generations of a Jewish pharmacy family lived in a small hungarian town. Éva, a 13-year-old grandson, keeps a diary and reads Charles Dickens' book, David Copperfield. The novel hero sometimes appears in the little girl’s life, or Éva enters the world of the novel. First, Éva's cousin is taken away. Then Éva's mother and friend will come from Pest. Grandpa's business is seized, her father is arrested, and the ordeals are not over...
