Contents/Summary
- Summary
- In 2014, Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian filmmaker, Euromaidan activist, and native of Crimea was arrested by the Russian security service. He was secretly transported to Russia, held incommunicado for three weeks, and was later charged with having planned terrorist attacks on bridges, power lines and a monument of Lenin. Director Askold Kurov follows the show trial in which Sentsov defended himself, emphatically denied his alleged crimes, and accused the accusers themselves. The film reveals an absurd and frightening Kafkaesque story about the state machine that convicted Sentsov to 20 years in prison, despite insufficient evidence and with testimonies given under duress.
