- In 1939, a meeting at the Kremlin reshaped the border between Lithuania and Belarus and, consequently, the Lithuanian village of Norviliskes found itself deeply wedged in the Belarusian territory. For the inhabitants of Norviliskes, and for their Belarusian neighbours in the village of Pezkuny, this border, once symbolic, materialized suddenly in 2004, as Lithuania joined the European Union.
