- Notes
- The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

ORIGINAL CAPTION:
A Message for grandma in Hungary. A seven-year old boy sends greetings over Radio Free Europe to his grandmother in a Hungarian village. The boy (who lives in Yonkers, N.Y.) and his grandmother have never met. Tibor Florian, who conducts Radio Free Europe's programs of tape-recorded "Messages" from Hungarians living in the U.S. to their families and relatives in Hungary, hold the microphone. Communist Radio Budapest has just inaugurated its own "Messages' program in an effort to combat the popularity of the RFE broadcasts, which draw a large mail response from all regions of Hungary.
