Certain images come to mind when an American says, “I’m a dancer.” However, the dancing found in Rakasa (Arabic for “bellydancer”) comes from an irrepressible urge to rebel, to be free, and to be wholly and utterly a woman in a culture that would have one deny that Goddess-given gift. This form of dancing also crosses religious barriers, bringing Israeli Jews and Arabs together to dance. For this, rakasa—and the women whose lives are shared within—should be celebrated. 580 Verzio Film Festival Submission 655 4 Documentary films 260 Israel, |c2006. 041 hebara |jeng 952 |00 |10 |40 |50 |70 |8FL |991276FL |bFL |d2016-11-25 |l0 |r2016-11-25 |w2016-11-25 |yDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_1343_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9146737FL |bFL |d2019-03-08 |l0 |oFL Record 1343 |pHU_OSA_00002989.mp4 |r2021-11-04 |w2019-03-08 |yDIGIFILM |zAccess Copy, MP4 format |cAudio Visual 920 01 PYJ30deD 966 True |bHU_OSA_00002989 |cDigitally Anywhere / With Registration
