- When the dictatorial President Alexander Lukashenko came to power in 1994 countless galleries were shut down or made subject to censorship. In response, Belarusian artist, Ales Pushkin, uses his performance art to wage a mini-resistance against Lukashenko’s regime. The result of his works often leads to violent confrontations with the authorities.
