Summary
Gyuri, the miller is in love with Rózsi, the gypsy girl in the village. Rózsi's brother, Peti, the talented primate, loves Évi, the daughter of the greedy Márton. Gyuri’s farmer uncle opposes the marriage, but the boy bravely stands up for his love. Évi's parents don’t like the fact that their only daughter is in love with a gypsy boy. One day, Gyuri is enlisted, and Peti secretly leaves instead, who, seeing his sister's happiness, selflessly takes 12 years of service instead of Gyuri. During his absence, the lurking kinship tears the lovers apart: they spread lies about Rózsi and false news about Peti's death. Rózsi goes crazy with what she has experienced, and her father is almost completely shattered. But during his service in Italy, Peti comes across a music-loving landlord who frees and teaches the talented violinist. Returning home as a successful musician, his supporter, the landlord, goes after what happened, finds out the truth, cures Rose and punishes the wicked kinship, and gives Gyuri a hefty dowry. During the wedding for the young couple, Peti and Évi also find each other again, whose parents now strongly support the relationship between their daughter and the gypsy boy who became a lord. The father, the old gypsy is proudly watching his happy children in the nuptial.
