What is going on behind the color-saturated hospital doors and corridors? What do you feel on seeing the young women in faded pink dresses, on hearing the machines beating and breathing, on hearing the other women scream? How are the abstract technical words, the tensions, the pipes, drip bags, lights, technical devices, alarm digits and recording lines perceived? “Passage” is the filmmaker’s point of view on what midwives are live through, hear, see and feel while they are helping women to give birth. The filmmaker envisions giving birth as a secret sacred ceremony made up of pain, effort, concentration, encouraging voices and accelerated rhythms, accompanied by an un-sacred technological environment which is necessary for the success of the delivery.
