- After the fall of the Soviet Union, many Eastern Europeans migrated to the West for work and opportunities while those left behind endured the collapse of industry and destitution. As poverty became a reality, the offer of income presented to many young women by recruiters of the trafficking network was hard to resist. Photojournalist Mimi Chakarova exposes the network of human trafficking and experiences of trafficked Eastern European women forced into prostitution abroad.
