Notes
The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

RELIGION plays a prominent part in RFE broadcasts to predominantly Catholic Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary and Orthodox Rumania and Bulgaria. Clergymen from all the major faiths of East Europe are attached to RFE's staff as advisors, editors and broadcasters. Above, Father Tadeusz Kirschke broadcasts to Poland, where the Church represents the main opposition to the regime and 95 per cent of the population practices Catholicism openly.
