In 1994, the majority Hutus started to kill the minority Tutsis in the neighboring country Rwanda. In hundred days they killed almost a million people. The surviving Tutsis fled to neighboring Congo and when a Tutsi army put an end to the genocide in Rwanda, the Hutus had to flee as well from the revenge. After having seen a refugee camp in Congo, a doctor from Bükkösd decided to help the people living there. The doctor collected money and assigned us to go to Uganda with ten thousand dollars and a camera, buy thousand sheets, transport them to Congo and give them to the refugees in Kiwanja.
