Both Sahab and Maryam are surprisingly open and honest about the topic and show us the pros and cons. A heated discussion between Sahab and his mother illustrates there are very different views on the issue, even within one family. While Sahab believes Sighe is a good opportunity for young people, his mother finds it a hypocritical and unacceptable practice. Maryam, a divorced woman with a young son, shows that a temporary marriage is sometimes the only way to stay off the street in a country where there is hardly any social support system. The documentary also presents a Mullah in the Southern suburbs of Tehran who legalizes temporary marriages, and a matchmaker in Iran’s religious centre Qom. 1 hour – 99 years provides an insight into the lives of people and shows the way old religious practices like Sighe are being used in an attempt to solve contemporary problems. 580 Verzio Film Festival Submission 655 4 Documentary films 260 Iran : |bColumn Film, |c2009. 041 peseng |jeng 952 |00 |10 |40 |50 |70 |8FL |991769FL |bFL |d2016-11-25 |l0 |r2016-11-25 |w2016-11-25 |yDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_1799_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9147415FL |bFL |d2021-01-15 |l0 |oFL Record 1799 |pHU_OSA_00003417.mp4 |r2021-11-04 |w2021-01-15 |yDIGIFILM |zAccess Copy, MP4 format |cAudio Visual 920 01 WokQ50Yr 966 True |bHU_OSA_00003417 |cDigitally Anywhere / With Registration
