As Dr Myant shows, economic and political developments have been as entwined in Czechoslovakia as elsewhere in the COMECON network. He presents a detailed account of the development and performance of the Czech economy over a period of forty years, and reveals the problems and tensions created by the chosen system of centralised planning. The study shows clearly that economic change can only be understood in a broader international and political context, and highlights certain crucial formative periods, most notably the early the early 1950s, the early 1960s and, of course, 1968. Dr Myant's conclusion is that any economic reform will have little substance unless accompanied by appropriate political change. 580 HU OSA 300 - RFE/RL collection 651 0 Czechoslovakia |xEconomic policy |y1945-1992. 651 0 Czechoslovakia |xEconomic conditions |y1945-1992. 856 42 |3Publisher description |uhttp://www.loc.gov/catdir/enhancements/fy1005/88032690-d.html 856 41 |3Table of contents only |uhttp://www.loc.gov/catdir/enhancements/fy1005/88032690-t.html 880 |6245 942 |2ddc |cBK 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6338_943700000000000_MYA |70 |8GEN |9165189OSA |bOSA |d2024-10-30 |eRFE/RL |l0 |o338.9437 MYA |r2024-10-30 |w2024-10-30 |yBK |cOSA Repository 920 01 WokVA2er 992 01 338_943700000000000_MYA |bWWR_QVWSZZZZZZZZZZZ_D1P 966 |cIn the Research Room
