- In some parts of the world, the very act of drawing or painting is a crime. Under Afghanistan's Taliban regime, Shafiq Monis was jailed and nearly lost his life for this offense. His story, as well as his extraordinary journey from Afghanistan to Australia (where he was once again locked up in a Detention Centre) is now a central theme in Shafiq's art.
