The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

RFE Geneva Bureau Chief William Mahoney reporting from Belgrade during the Eighth Congress of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (Dec. 7-13, 1964). Behind him, atop the Kalemegdan Fortress, is the monument commemorating the assistance and alliance of France to Serbia in World War I. RFE coverage of this important Yugoslav Communist Party Congress, on tape and by telex-filed stories, marked the first time such a meeting could be covered by RFE from within East Europe. Mahoney received normal foreign press credentials from the Yugoslav government and operated with the same freedom as other Western journalists on the scene. Public Affairs Department
