- Notes
- The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

- Contents Summary
- A guard is standing with his back to the viewer on a path in a field. He is wearing a dark uniform, a white helmet and a rifle on his shoulder. He is facing a tall fenced-in antenna on the other side of the field. The antenna is far from the guard, but in the exact center of the photo. Behind the antenna there is a wood and a few buildings.
ORIGINAL CAPTION:
Crusade for Freedom Photo. A German guard stands watch on his side of the border with Czechoslovakia. Building in background is in Communist territory. In a zone several miles wide extending the entire length of the iron Curtain, the Reds have removed all inhabitants, destroyed buildings, laid barbed wire and electrified fences in addition to maintaining large forces of ruthless and heavily armed guards.
