Scope and Content (Abstract)

The files contain records related to the registration and reorganization of the International Science Foundation, its branches in Latvia and Ukraine, International Centers for Telecommunications in Kiev and Novosibirsk, and the United States Civilian Research and Development Foundation. Besides, there are documents concerning the national advisory committees of the ISF; for example in Ukraine, Belorussia or Baltic states. There are materials related to individual ISF programs: Long-Term Research Grants (program administration, statistical data and some final reports of grantees), Travel Grants (correspondence and memos), Emergency Grants (program announcements and grantee lists). There is also the correspondence dealing with the functioning of the ISF, its cooperation with Scientific Societies in the West, panel meetings where grant applications were evaluated, and some conferences sponsored by ISF.

Access to this series is regulated by the donation agreement with the Open Society Foundations, according to which records are restricted up to 25 years from the date of their creation. OSA maintains the right to review access rules to both restricted and unrestricted records on a case by case basis.
