Summary
The films follows the Germans in Yogoslavia before and after World War II. According to the historical data there were a bout 510 thousand Danube Germans in Vojvodina. They were mostly farmers, hard working and the wealthiest segment of the population. Before the war, the three most populous nations in the Vojvodina: the Serbs, Germans and Hungarians agreed well. After the war, the German civilian population had to pay enormous price. Their property was taken, and the people were banished and locked up in collection camps, where it is estimated that about 60 thousand died from hunger and various diseases. Many of survivors immigrated into Germany. In the end, of about half a million Germans not even 10 thousand stayed in Yugoslavia, and have received neither material nor moral compensation for their innocent suffering. Having survived all the atrocities and after 65 years, some still have a hard time remembering even their dearest lost ones.
