a| Wide is the Sea - Or a Time to Get Stones Together part 1
a| The film follows the tragedy of creation of Rybinsk water reservoir in USSR in 1938, the biggest man-made sea on the Earth, the symbol of man’s victory over nature. To transform nature at his will, to build a paradise on Earth they are some of Lenin Stalin’s ideas. The epoch of grandiose tasks, great changes and enthusiasm however turns tragedy and disaster for millions of people. 150 000 prisoners of GULAG realized one of the most ambitious Stalin’s project. 800 villages, 3 towns, 5 monasteries, hundreds of old cemeteries were submerged. Thousands of people lost their home... Their father’s or grandfather’s graves have been flooded. But they name themselves mologzhans, the residents of Mologa-town as they still believe one day the sea will go away!
