Contents Summary
“Genocide By Sanctions” is a short documentary investigating the consequences of one of the toughest economic sanctions in human history. The film follows former Attorney General of the United States, Ramsey Clark, as he goes to Iraq in 1997 to investigate the consequences of the economic sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council on Iraq since 1990. UNICEF, the Red Cross, and other world organizations estimated that around 5,000 children were dying every month in Iraq, due to the near-total financial and trade embargo. The film follows Ramsey Clark as he goes into the hospitals to talk with Iraqi doctors, patients and civilians, all of whom suffer in various degrees because of the sanctions.
