Notes
Archival photographic prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

Contents Summary

A man in casual clothes is working at a row of computers at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. He is patching a cable at a DigitalDEC DataSystem equipment in the Computer center in Munich, Germany. The original cation, taped onto the back of the image contains detailed information.

ORIGINAL CAPTION: Munich -- The computer age reached RFE/RL six years ago when the Central News Room converted to word processors. But only five years later, economic demands forced replacement of the old system by a new system that only handles storage of news, filing, reproduction and distribution, but also processes administrative records, accounting and financing, personnel research, and even operates an ultra-modern telephone system. Here Theodore Bergstrom, Associate Manager, engineering Maintenance, works with a computer in the dust-free, air-conditioned computer center.
