Summary:
The testimonies of Dr. Oliver Benjamin, Secretary General of the Hungarian Revolutionary Council (founded in Strasbourg, 1957) and Witness W, a doctor, and member of the Corvin group. Benjamin, a member of the newly organized Hungarian Social Democrat Party in the fall of 1956, gave an account of the first days of the revolution; he took part in the fighting at Kalvin Square. He saw Soviet tanks attacking a hospital and people lined up for bread at the Glaser Bakery. Witness W took an active part in the fighting as a doctor in Budapest, and was a member of the Corvin group.

Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution.
